PURWOREJO – The Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR), continues to improve the quality of higher education through efforts to strengthen its quality assurance system. One such effort was its participation in the Workshop on Strengthening Study Program Quality Assurance Systems, organized by the Association of Economics and Business Faculties of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (AFEB PTMA).
The workshop was held over two days, Tuesday–Wednesday (October 27–28, 2026), at the AR Fachrudin A Building, 5th Floor, UMY Integrated Campus, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).
UMPWR was represented by three faculty members: Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Dr. Intan Puspitasari, S.E., M.Sc.; Faculty Quality Assurance Coordinator (PMF), Endah Pri Ariningsih, S.E., M.Sc.; and Secretary of the Management Study Program, Fitri Rahmawati, S.E., M.M.
Participation in this workshop reflects the Faculty of Economics UMPWR’s commitment to improving the quality of higher education through a well-planned, measurable, and sustainable quality assurance system.
The workshop featured Prof. Dr. BM. Purwanto, MBA., Ph.D., and Prof. Naela Tubastusvi, S.E., M.Si., as speakers. Through presentations and discussions, participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of how quality assurance systems are implemented at the study program level.
The discussions covered higher education quality standards, the evaluation of academic activities, and practical steps to support continuous quality improvement.
For the Management Study Program at the Faculty of Economics UMPWR, strengthening quality assurance is essential to maintaining the quality of teaching and learning as well as effective study program management. Consistent implementation of the system is expected to foster a strong quality culture and better prepare the study program for evaluation and accreditation processes.
Beyond enhancing their understanding of quality assurance, the workshop also provided a platform for Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah higher education institutions to exchange experiences and share best practices, particularly in managing and improving educational quality in economics and business.
The workshop concluded with mentoring sessions and discussions on the development and implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum in each participating study program.
This discussion was an important part of efforts to maintain the quality of educational delivery and academic services. The OBE approach emphasizes the achievement of predetermined learning outcomes, requiring careful planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Through these mentoring sessions, participants had the opportunity to discuss curriculum development based on their respective study programs’ needs while strengthening their understanding of how OBE can be implemented in the learning process.
Through its participation in the AFEB PTMA workshop, the Management Study Program of the Faculty of Economics UMPWR hopes to apply the knowledge and experience gained to strengthen its internal quality assurance system.
These efforts are expected to positively impact the quality of academic services, study program development, and learning processes that support the development of competent, professional, and ethical graduates.
Participation in this workshop also reaffirms the Faculty of Economics UMPWR’s commitment to continuous improvement. By further strengthening its quality assurance system, UMPWR seeks to support the delivery of high-quality, excellent, and competitive higher education in line with Muhammadiyah values.
