Officially Opened with the Rector’s Kick-Off
The opening ceremony of the 2026 UMPWR Rector’s Cup Fun Football Tournament was held on Monday, October 5, 2026. In his remarks, Chairman of the UMPWR 62nd Anniversary Committee, Dr. Arif Maftukin, M.Pd., said that the fun football tournament reflects the spirit of the 62nd Anniversary, which carries the theme “Growing, Resilient, and Impactful.”
He likened this spirit to the grass on the football field where the players compete. Grass continues to grow and withstand different conditions while remaining an essential part of the game.
Meanwhile, UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., officially opened the tournament with the first kick.
In his remarks, the Rector emphasized that the event is called fun football, meaning that enjoying the game should be at the heart of the competition. At the same time, having fun on the field must go hand in hand with discipline and adherence to the rules of the game.
“As it is called fun football, enjoy the game. But at the same time, make sure to follow the regulations,” he said.
Through this tournament, the 62nd Anniversary of UMPWR is not only a moment to celebrate the university’s journey, but also an opportunity to strengthen friendship and togetherness among UMPWR, institutions, and communities in Purworejo and surrounding areas.
