UMPWR – The series of activities marking the 62nd Anniversary of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) continues. This time, the spirit of togetherness among the university community was brought to the volleyball court through an inter-faculty volleyball tournament held at the Volleyball Court of UMPWR Campus III Sucen on Saturday (October 3, 2026).
Held as part of UMPWR’s 62nd Anniversary celebration, themed “Growing, Resilient, and Influential,” the tournament brought together nine teams from five faculties, along with one team representing UMPWR lecturers and staff.
Of the nine participating teams, four were from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), while the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Psychology, Law and Social Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Agriculture each sent one team. One additional team consisted of lecturers and staff from UMPWR.
Coordinator of the Sports and Arts Division of the 62nd Anniversary Committee, H. Nasrudin, M.S.I., expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to hold the inter-faculty volleyball tournament during his remarks at the opening ceremony.
He said he hoped activities like this could become a starting point for encouraging the emergence of athletes from within the UMPWR community. Beyond competition, the tournament also provides an opportunity for members of the university community to strengthen their bonds through sports.
“We are grateful that we can hold this inter-faculty volleyball tournament at UMPWR. Hopefully, through activities like this, we can gradually develop athletes from within UMPWR. Good luck to all the teams, and most importantly, let’s maintain sportsmanship,” he said.
The tournament is more than just part of the celebration of UMPWR’s 62nd anniversary. It also serves as a space to strengthen togetherness, foster a healthy competitive spirit, and build closer connections among faculties across the university.
This spirit is in line with the theme of UMPWR’s 62nd Anniversary, “Growing, Resilient, and Influential,” which is reflected through various university activities, including sports events that bring the academic community together.
