Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – Proud news comes from the student entrepreneurship team of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR). Dehiera has won 1st Place at KMI Expo XVII 2026 in the Creative Industry, Arts, and Culture – Growth Stage category.

The achievement was announced during the KMI Expo XVII 2026 Awarding Night, held on Thursday (October 1, 2026), at Graya Widyatama, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed).

At the event, Dehiera presented its product, “Threads of Batik and Whispers of Embroidery,” a fashion business that combines traditional batik elements with embroidery techniques. Through this combination, Dehiera seeks to create fashion products that retain their cultural character while being presented through a more creative and contemporary approach.

This achievement also marks an important milestone for the team, which previously qualified for the Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW) UMPWR 2026. Dehiera consists of Dini Aprilia from the Economics Education Study Program, Aulia Fatimatuz Zahra from Physics Education, Baniyah from Economics Education, Sabrina Putri Ramadhani from Law, and Indah Ramadhanti from English Education.

Throughout the development of their business, the Dehiera team was mentored by Dr. Anita Rinawati, M.Pd. and Dyah Panuntun Utami, S.P., M.Sc. The team also received full support and guidance from Susi Widjajani, S.E., M.Si., Head of the UMPWR Entrepreneurship and Business Incubator Unit (UKIB).

UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd. expressed his appreciation for the team’s achievement. He said Dehiera’s success demonstrates the significant opportunities available for UMPWR students to develop both their creativity and entrepreneurial skills.

“This achievement is certainly a source of pride for UMPWR. More importantly, our students are not only learning about entrepreneurship in the classroom but are also willing to bring their ideas and products to the national stage. This is in line with UMPWR’s commitment to encouraging students to become creative and independent individuals who are capable of producing impactful work,” he said.

Vice Rector III for Student Affairs Dr. Budi Setiawan, S.Sos., M.Si. said Dehiera’s achievement demonstrates how students’ potential can grow when creativity, mentoring, and opportunities to compete come together.

“We truly appreciate the hard work and dedication shown by the Dehiera team. They did not stop at developing an idea but continued the process until their product was able to compete at the national level. This is an important experience for students as they learn to face challenges, receive feedback, and continuously develop their business,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of UKIB UMPWR Susi Widjajani, S.E., M.Si. said Dehiera’s achievement could not be separated from the long process the team had gone through since joining P2MW.

“Dehiera started its journey through P2MW and has continued to receive guidance from us together with the faculty mentors. They have learned many things, from product development and business management to presenting their business. Winning first place is the result of that process, while also providing further motivation for them to keep growing,” she explained.

Dehiera’s faculty mentor, Dr. Anita Rinawati, M.Pd., also expressed her pride in the team’s efforts. According to her, the achievement is not simply about winning an award, but also about the learning process the students experienced while developing Dehiera.

“The students have gone through quite a long process. They learned how to develop ideas, build a product, work as a team, and face competition. Alhamdulillah, that process has produced an excellent result. Hopefully, this achievement will not stop at KMI Expo but will become valuable experience for them to further develop Dehiera,” she said.

Dehiera’s success at KMI Expo XVII 2026 adds to the achievements of UMPWR students in the field of entrepreneurship. The accomplishment also shows how students’ creative ideas can grow into meaningful products and businesses when they are given space, mentoring, and opportunities to compete at the national level.

For Dehiera, the award is another step in its journey to further develop “Threads of Batik and Whispers of Embroidery,” while bringing the richness of batik and the creativity of embroidery into fashion products with the potential to reach a wider market.
