Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – The spirit of giving continues to be part of the 62nd Anniversary celebrations of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR), this time through a blood donation drive. The activity was held on Tuesday (29 September 2026) at the Seminar Room, UMPWR East Campus.

The blood donation drive was organized by UMPWR in collaboration with the UMPWR Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Indonesian Red Cross Volunteer Corps (KSR PMI) and the Purworejo Regency Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). The activity was part of the 62nd Anniversary series, which carries the theme “Growing, Resilient, and Making an Impact.”

The organizers set a target of collecting 75 units of blood. The donated blood is expected to help meet the needs of people requiring blood transfusions through the Purworejo Regency PMI.

Chair of the 62nd Anniversary Committee, Dr. Arif Maftukin, M.Pd., said the blood donation drive is a tangible example of how the anniversary is not merely celebrated through ceremonial activities, but also through actions that bring meaningful benefits to others.

“We see the 62nd Anniversary not only as a celebration of UMPWR reaching another milestone, but also as a moment for us to continue growing and creating benefits for others. Blood donation may seem like a simple act, but its impact can mean a great deal to those who need it,” Arif said.

He added that the spirit of “Growing, Resilient, and Making an Impact” should also be reflected in social care. The UMPWR academic community is expected not only to grow academically and institutionally, but also to become increasingly aware of issues and challenges within society.

Meanwhile, Ummu Muthmainnah, a representative of KSR PMI UMPWR, said the blood donation drive provides an opportunity for members of the academic community to contribute directly to meeting the community’s blood supply needs.

“We hope the activity runs smoothly and that we can reach our target of 75 units of blood. A drop of blood may seem small, but for someone who receives it, it can make a meaningful difference,” Ummu said.

She also encouraged members of the UMPWR academic community to take part in blood donation activities without hesitation. Beyond helping others, donating blood is a direct and tangible way to show concern for those in need.

The blood donation drive also reflects the spirit of UMPWR’s 62nd Anniversary celebrations, which go beyond academic activities, sports, and ceremonial events to include initiatives that have a direct connection to the wider community.

Through this activity, UMPWR seeks to continue fostering a culture of care across the campus community. As the university marks another year of its journey, its growing age is also expected to be accompanied by an even greater contribution and wider benefits for society.

This spirit is in line with the theme of UMPWR’s 62nd Anniversary, “Growing, Resilient, and Making an Impact”—growing together, remaining resilient in facing challenges, and creating a positive impact that benefits others. (akb/KP)
