Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) continues to encourage students to develop their entrepreneurial potential and take it to the national stage. This commitment was reflected in the send-off of the Dehiera Team, a recipient of the 2026 Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW) funding, to participate in the KMI Expo XVII P2MW 2026 at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED).

The Dehiera Team was officially sent off by UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., on Monday (28 September 2026). Dehiera represents UMPWR at the student entrepreneurship event, which brings together hundreds of tenants from universities across Indonesia.

Dehiera presents “Threads of Batik and Whispers of Embroidery,” a fashion business that combines batik and embroidery elements. The product reflects the students’ efforts to develop their creativity while adding value to fashion products inspired by Indonesian cultural heritage.

KMI Expo XVII is being held from 29 September to 1 October 2026 at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED). The event features approximately 395 tenants from universities across Indonesia. The tenants are divided into six business categories and grouped according to their business development stage, namely the early-stage and growth-stage categories.

Dehiera’s delegation consists of five students, accompanied by one P2MW university program manager, two faculty advisors/supervisors, and one P2MW university operator.

For UMPWR, Dehiera’s participation is also significant as the team is the only representative from a higher education institution based in Purworejo Regency taking part in the event.

Bringing Batik, Embroidery, and Jathilan

The KMI Expo XVII series begins with the opening ceremony and booth judging on Tuesday (29 September 2026). During the event, Dehiera will showcase its P2MW-developed product while interacting with participants from universities across Indonesia.

In addition to the expo, Dehiera will also take part in the Cultural Parade on Wednesday (30 September 2026). For the parade, the team will feature Jathilan, a traditional art form that has developed in Purworejo Regency.

Jathilan was chosen as a way to introduce and help preserve Purworejo’s local cultural heritage in the setting of a national student entrepreneurship event.

The series of activities will continue with the KMI Award and conclude with the closing ceremony on the final day. Through these activities, Dehiera will not only have the opportunity to showcase its product but also learn from student entrepreneurs representing universities from different regions.

UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., said that participating in an event such as KMI Expo provides students with valuable experience in developing their entrepreneurial mindset and skills.

“We hope Dehiera will not simply come to participate in the expo, but also take advantage of this opportunity to learn, build networks, and see how students from other universities develop their businesses. This kind of experience will be valuable for them as they continue developing their businesses in the future,” Teguh said.

He added that the courage to bring students’ work and products to the national stage is also part of a learning process that cannot always be gained in the classroom.

“When our students meet student entrepreneurs from different regions, they will gain many new experiences. This is what we want to encourage, so that UMPWR students not only have academic skills but are also confident in creating, innovating, and developing their potential,” he continued.

Meanwhile, UMPWR Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Dr. Budi Setiawan, S.Sos., M.Si., said that sending Dehiera to KMI Expo XVII is part of the university’s support for students developing their businesses through P2MW.

“P2MW gives students an opportunity to learn how to run a business in a more practical way. From developing products and building a business identity to marketing their products and connecting with consumers and new networks, KMI Expo provides an important opportunity for students to gain that experience,” Budi explained.

He added that Dehiera’s participation is expected to go beyond simply taking part in a national event and become a step toward further developing the business and expanding its network.

“We hope Dehiera will return with new experiences, connections, and insights that can be used to further develop the business. Equally important, they are also carrying the name of UMPWR while introducing the potential and cultural heritage of Purworejo at the national level,” he said.

Dehiera’s participation in KMI Expo XVII provides an opportunity for the students to introduce “Threads of Batik and Whispers of Embroidery,” expand their network, exchange experiences with student entrepreneurs from different regions, and represent UMPWR at a national student entrepreneurship event.

The send-off also reflects UMPWR’s continued support for student entrepreneurship through P2MW, providing students with opportunities to grow through experience, creativity, and the courage to bring their products to a wider audience.
