Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – Once again, good news comes from Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR). The Physics Education Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UMPWR has successfully earned an Excellent Accreditation rating from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Education (LAMDIK).
The accreditation was granted through LAMDIK Decree Number 2070/SK/LAMDIK/Ak-ISK/S/IX/2026. This achievement adds to the series of positive accreditation results achieved by UMPWR throughout 2026. Previously, several study programs from various faculties had also successfully earned Excellent accreditation.
With the Physics Education Study Program receiving Excellent accreditation, UMPWR now has 9 study programs with an Excellent accreditation rating, representing 50 percent of the total study programs at UMPWR. This achievement marks an important step in UMPWR's ongoing efforts to strengthen its quality culture while further advancing toward Excellent Institutional Accreditation (APT Unggul).
Previously, the Physics Education Study Program underwent an online Field Assessment (AL) for accreditation conversion on September 21–22, 2026. The assessment was conducted by two LAMDIK assessors, namely Prof. Dr. Wahono Widodo, M.Si. from Universitas Negeri Surabaya and Prof. Dr. Winny Liliawati, S.Pd., M.Si. from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
UMPWR Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., expressed his gratitude for yet another achievement by UMPWR. According to him, the Excellent accreditation earned by the Physics Education Study Program is not only a source of pride for the study program and FKIP, but also contributes to the university's overall achievements.
“Alhamdulillah, we have once again received good news. The Physics Education Study Program has earned Excellent accreditation. This shows that the collective efforts to improve quality continue to produce results. We are certainly grateful and appreciate all the teams who have worked hard,” the Rector said.
The Rector added that the growing number of study programs receiving Excellent accreditation is an important asset for UMPWR in preparing for institutional accreditation.
“With the Physics Education Study Program's achievement, UMPWR now has 9 study programs, or 50 percent of our study programs, with Excellent accreditation. This achievement strengthens UMPWR's efforts toward Excellent Institutional Accreditation. However, we cannot stop here. Instead, this achievement should encourage us to continue maintaining quality, improving areas that still need attention, and encouraging other study programs to pursue the same achievement,” he continued.
Dean of FKIP UMPWR, Dr. Riawan Yudi Purwoko, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation to the entire academic community of the Physics Education Study Program for their serious preparation throughout the accreditation process.
According to him, the Excellent accreditation achieved by the Physics Education Study Program is the result of a long process, ranging from improvements in governance and strengthened learning processes to enhanced lecturer performance and the development of research and community service activities.
“Alhamdulillah, Physics Education has once again brought encouraging news for FKIP and UMPWR. This Excellent accreditation certainly did not come overnight. There was a process, evaluation, and collective effort involving lecturers, education staff, students, alumni, and all supporting parties,” Riawan said.
He hopes the achievement will not merely remain an accreditation rating, but will serve as a foundation for the continued development of the Physics Education Study Program.
“This Excellent accreditation brings a new responsibility for us to maintain and continuously improve quality. We hope Physics Education will become stronger, more adaptive, and able to make a broader contribution to education and society,” he added.
Meanwhile, Head of the Physics Education Study Program at FKIP UMPWR, Dr. Arif Maftukin, M.Pd., welcomed the achievement with gratitude and appreciation for everyone involved in the accreditation process.
Arif said that the journey toward Excellent accreditation had been a valuable learning process for the entire Physics Education team. The various notes and evaluations throughout the process have provided important input for reviewing what has been accomplished as well as identifying areas that still need to be strengthened.
“Alhamdulillah, this is truly wonderful news for Physics Education. We would like to thank the entire team, lecturers, education staff, students, alumni, and everyone who has provided support. This Excellent accreditation gives us new energy to keep moving forward and doing our best,” Arif said.
He emphasized that the achievement is not the end of the journey.
