Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – The spirit of continuous growth and service to the community was reflected in a Social Service activity held by Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) as part of its 62nd Anniversary celebration. Carrying the theme “Growing, Resilient, and Making an Impact,” the activity was held on Friday (September 18, 2026).

The Social Service program was organized in collaboration with Danamon Syariah. Assistance was distributed to people in need at several locations around UMPWR, including the Main Campus, Campus II Plaosan, Campus III Sucen, Surya Motor Workshop in Sindurjan, and the H.M. Roestam Loano Student Islamic Boarding School.

The ceremonial handover of the assistance took place at the Seminar Room of UMPWR’s East Campus. The event was attended by UMPWR Rector, the Chair of the 62nd Anniversary Committee, representatives of Danamon Syariah, and the recipients of the assistance.

In his remarks, UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd. said the activity was part of UMPWR’s commitment to remaining present in the community and creating a meaningful impact.

“UMPWR strives to remain present in the community, so that the university’s presence is not only felt within the campus, but can also make a difference to the people around us. The best people are those who bring the greatest benefit to others,” he said.

The Rector expressed his hope that the assistance would be useful and help ease the recipients’ needs. He also emphasized that the Social Service activity was a reflection of UMPWR’s concern for communities living around the university’s campuses.

“We hope this assistance will be useful and help ease the recipients’ needs. This is one of UMPWR’s expressions of care for the community. Hopefully, activities like this can continue in the years ahead,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chair of the 62nd UMPWR Anniversary Committee, Dr. Arif Maftukin, M.Pd., said that the Social Service program was more than just part of the anniversary celebration. It was also an opportunity to share and strengthen UMPWR’s connection with the surrounding community.

“We see the 62nd Anniversary not simply as a celebration of UMPWR’s growing age, but also as a moment to reflect on how the university can continue to bring benefits to its surroundings and the wider community. Through this Social Service activity, we want to share while strengthening our sense of care and connection with the people around UMPWR,” he said.

He also expressed his hope that the spirit of sharing and caring would continue to grow through various UMPWR activities, in line with the theme of the 62nd Anniversary, “Growing, Resilient, and Making an Impact.”

Representing Danamon Syariah, Prastuti said the collaboration in the Social Service activity was part of the institution’s effort to contribute and bring benefits to the community.

“Please do not focus on the form of the assistance. What matters is that we hope it will be useful for those who receive it,” she said.

The Social Service activity is one of the tangible expressions of the spirit behind UMPWR’s 62nd Anniversary. As UMPWR continues its journey and enters another year, the anniversary is not only a celebration, but also a moment to share, remain connected with the community, and create meaningful benefits for the people around the university.
