Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – To ensure that the School Field Introduction Program (Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan/PLP) is implemented properly and smoothly, Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd. directly conducted monitoring and evaluation (Monev) at several partner schools on Thursday (17/9/2026).

The monitoring and evaluation took place at SMA Negeri 1 Purworejo, SMA Negeri 6 Purworejo, and SMA Negeri 7 Purworejo. During the visits, the Rector held direct discussions with school representatives and UMPWR students who were carrying out their field practice.

PLP is a program undertaken by students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UMPWR in their final semester. The program is an important part of their learning process before they enter the education sector professionally.

Through PLP, students have the opportunity to put the knowledge and skills they have gained during their university studies into practice. They do not only learn how to teach in the classroom but also experience the actual environment and dynamics of school life.

Rector of UMPWR Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd. said that direct monitoring is necessary to ensure that students are able to participate in the PLP program properly while gaining experience in line with the objectives of the program.

“We want to ensure that the PLP program is implemented properly and runs smoothly. Students are not simply coming to schools to fulfill their practical requirements, but are expected to gain meaningful experience as prospective teachers,” said the Rector.

According to him, direct experience in schools is an essential part of preparing FKIP students to become future educators. What students learn on campus needs to be put into practice and tested in real-life educational settings.

“PLP provides students with an opportunity to learn through experience. They can directly observe how teachers manage classrooms, deal with students with diverse characteristics, build communication, and address challenges that arise during the learning process. This will be valuable experience for them,” he added.

During the monitoring and evaluation visits, the Rector also observed the students’ conditions and activities throughout their PLP and communicated with school representatives regarding the implementation of the program. Maintaining communication with partner schools is important so that any challenges encountered during PLP can be identified and addressed promptly.

UMPWR continues to strengthen its partnerships with schools as part of its efforts to prepare future teachers. For students, schools as practical training environments provide experiences that cannot be fully gained through classroom learning alone.

In addition to the Rector, the Vice Rectors of UMPWR also conducted monitoring and evaluation at various partner schools hosting UMPWR PLP students.

UMPWR hopes that this year’s PLP implementation will proceed according to plan and provide an optimal learning experience for FKIP students. The program also reflects the university’s commitment to supporting and monitoring students’ learning experiences in the field.
