Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – The campus atmosphere at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) became more vibrant with the arrival of new students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. On Monday (14/9/2026), UMPWR officially welcomed its new students through the New Student Campus Life Introduction Program (PPKKMB) and Masa Ta’aruf (Masta), held over three days, from 14 to 16 September 2026.

The program was attended by new students from various admission pathways, including regular, transfer, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and employee programs.

Carrying the theme “Generasi Unggul Berdampak Bagi Semesta” (“An Excellent Generation with Impact on the World”), PPKKMB and Masta served as the starting point for new students to become more familiar with campus life, the academic environment, student organizations, and the values that will be part of their journey as UMPWR students.

Chair of the 2026 UMPWR PPKKMB and Masta Committee, Galih Bagas Soesilo, S.H., LL.M., said in his remarks that the new students were welcomed with pride, happiness, and a strong sense of humanity.

According to him, the theme was not merely a slogan for the program but also reflected a shared prayer and hope.

“This theme is part of our prayers for the university, for the new students, and for the entire academic community. Hopefully, from here, a generation of excellence will emerge—one that is able to make an impact on the world,” he said.

The Chair of the UMPWR Board of Trustees (BPH), Drs. H. Muh. Hamidi, M.Pd., also delivered remarks. He expressed his pride in welcoming the new students, who are expected to become part of the generation that will shape Indonesia’s bright future.

“It is a great source of pride for us to welcome all of you to UMPWR. PPKKMB and Masta mark the beginning of your journey in higher education,” he said.

He emphasized that UMPWR would fully support students in developing their potential, both academically and non-academically.

Meanwhile, UMPWR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., welcomed all new students and reminded them that entering higher education means stepping into a new phase that requires readiness to grow and change.

“Being a university student means being ready to change. Be a student with character. Do not become a student who simply goes to class and then goes home. Instead, become a generation that brings change,” he said.

The Rector also encouraged new students to embrace Muhammadiyah values, as well as Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan, as part of their lives during their time on campus.

Students were also reminded to uphold the good name of themselves, their families, and their alma mater. Respecting lecturers, education staff, fellow students, and everyone within the campus community was also emphasized.

“Stay away from violence, bullying, intolerance, drug abuse, and any behavior that could damage your future,” he stressed.

New students were also encouraged to use social media wisely, as their digital footprint could become part of their life journey. The Rector reminded them not to be afraid of failure.

“Do not be afraid of failure. What you should fear is stopping learning and stopping trying. And most importantly, never waste the opportunity to be a university student,” he said.

Three Days of Getting to Know the Campus, Organizations, and Personal Potential

Over the three-day program, new students did not only receive information about the campus but were also invited to experience student life at UMPWR more directly.

On the first day, the activities began with the Opening Ceremony and a welcome for the new students. They then took part in the Kampus Menyapa session, an introduction to student services, student activity units (UKM), various student performances, and a session on National Insight and National Defense delivered by the Deputy Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.

The second day focused more on introducing students to Muhammadiyah identity and organizational life. The sessions included “Gen Muhammadiyah: Menentukan Identitas Islam Berkemajuan di Kampus Peradaban” (“Muhammadiyah Generation: Defining a Progressive Islamic Identity on a Campus of Civilization”), Muhammadiyah Time, and “Menjadi Mahasiswa Muhammadiyah yang Berilmu, Berkarakter, dan Berkemajuan” (“Becoming a Knowledgeable, Characterful, and Progressive Muhammadiyah Student”). Students were also introduced to Muhammadiyah autonomous organizations through various performances and orations.

On the third day, the new students received sessions more closely related to personal development and student life, including Student Entrepreneurship, Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (PPKPT), and Bimawa sessions. They also had the opportunity to learn more about student activity units through the UKM Stand, held at the east and west campuses.

The PPKKMB and Masta series concluded with a closing party, the official induction of new students through the wearing of UMPWR alma mater jackets, awards for selected new students, and a joint reflection session.

The three-day program is expected to provide an initial foundation for new students to begin their university life with greater confidence. More than simply getting to know classrooms and the campus environment, students are encouraged to understand the values, culture, organizations, and various opportunities they can explore throughout their time at UMPWR.

Welcome and congratulations on becoming part of the Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo family. Let us grow together as an Excellent Generation that Makes an Impact on the World. (akb/KP)
