Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – The Psychology Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) continues to strengthen the quality of its learning process through regular curriculum evaluation. As part of this effort, the program held a Psychology Study Program Curriculum Document Review with an expert from the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in the UMPWR Main Meeting Room.

The activity was part of an ongoing evaluation and improvement process for the curriculum implemented by the Psychology Study Program since 2025. The review aimed to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and systematic while supporting the achievement of graduate competencies in line with developments in the field of psychology.

The program invited Jati Ariati, S.Psi., M.Psi., Ph.D., from the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Diponegoro, to provide an expert review of the curriculum documents. The activity was attended by the study program's structural team, Curriculum Team, and all lecturers of the Psychology Study Program.

The session began with a presentation on Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based curriculum. The presentation provided participants with an overview of how an outcome-oriented curriculum can be implemented in higher education. It also served as a benchmarking opportunity for the Psychology Study Program at UMPWR to reassess its existing curriculum documents.

The session then moved to a direct review of the Psychology Study Program's curriculum documents. The Curriculum Team presented the curriculum that has been implemented since 2025 and received feedback and recommendations from the expert.

Overall, Jati Ariati appreciated the flow and structure of the curriculum that had been developed. She noted that the document already had a good overall structure, although several sections still needed to be adjusted and clarified to make the curriculum more systematic and easier to understand.

Among the aspects discussed during the review were performance indicators, as well as explanations of course components and the number of credits (SKS) students are required to complete throughout their studies. The recommendations will serve as important input for the Curriculum Team as it continues to refine the document.

The activity continued with a workshop on developing OBE-based Semester Learning Plans (Rencana Pembelajaran Semester/RPS). During this session, the expert provided practical guidance and reviewed the RPS currently used by the Psychology Study Program at UMPWR.

While the curriculum document still requires several adjustments, the RPS developed by the Psychology Study Program received positive feedback. The expert appreciated the way the RPS had been organized, noting that it was well structured and contained sufficiently complete components.

Nevertheless, an important point was raised regarding the future development of the RPS, particularly in determining the number of Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs), locally referred to as Capaian Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah (CPMK). The expert emphasized that the number of CPMKs should not be excessive, as they serve as the basis for determining learning outcomes to be measured through the learning process and assessment rubrics.

Therefore, CPMKs need to be determined proportionally so that they accurately represent the key learning outcomes of each course while allowing the assessment process to be carried out effectively.

Head of the Psychology Study Program at UMPWR, Widyaning Hapsari, M.Psi., said that the review provided an important opportunity for the program to gain an external perspective on the curriculum that has been implemented.

“This activity is part of our process of evaluating and improving the curriculum that we have implemented since 2025. We are grateful for the feedback from the expert, who generally appreciated the curriculum structure we have developed while also providing several highly practical recommendations for further improvement.”

She added that the feedback was valuable not only for improving the curriculum documents but also for strengthening the implementation of learning activities, particularly through the development of RPS that are more focused and aligned with the established learning outcomes.

The results of the review will serve as a basis for follow-up actions by the Psychology Study Program Curriculum Team to refine the sections that still require adjustment. Meanwhile, the outcomes of the RPS workshop are expected to further strengthen lecturers' understanding and skills in developing RPS that are aligned with learning outcomes and assessment systems.

Through this activity, the Psychology Study Program at UMPWR reaffirms its commitment to continuously evaluating and developing its curriculum. Involving external experts is an important step to ensure that the curriculum does not remain merely a set of documents, but continues to be reviewed and adapted to developments in psychological science and the needs of society.

Through this ongoing evaluation process, the Psychology Study Program at UMPWR expects its curriculum and learning practices to increasingly support the development of relevant graduate competencies and respond to the demands of a changing world.
