PURWOREJO – The celebration of the 62nd Anniversary of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) continues with a series of activities. Following volleyball and badminton competitions, the series of events involving lecturers and educational staff continued with the Men’s Table Tennis Tournament for Lecturers and Staff on Friday (September 4, 2026).
Held at the Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium, UMPWR, the table tennis tournament was one of the activities organized to add to the excitement of UMPWR’s 62nd Anniversary celebrations. A number of lecturers and staff took part in the competition, showcasing their skills while enjoying a strong sense of camaraderie throughout the matches.
More than just a competition, the sporting event also provided an opportunity for lecturers and staff to strengthen relationships and foster a closer sense of community within the university. The competitive spirit was evident from the beginning of the matches, while the atmosphere remained friendly and filled with togetherness.
One of the tournament committee members, Diki Anwar Sani, S.Pd., said that the event was part of the UMPWR Anniversary series, which was designed not only to commemorate the university’s anniversary but also to strengthen bonds among members of the UMPWR community.
“This tournament is one of the ways we celebrate UMPWR’s 62nd Anniversary while strengthening the sense of togetherness between lecturers and staff. After volleyball and badminton, we are now enjoying table tennis together. Hopefully, activities like this can continue to strengthen teamwork and foster a strong sense of community across UMPWR,” Diki said.
The series of sporting activities is part of the excitement leading up to the 62nd Anniversary of UMPWR, which will be commemorated on September 24, 2026. Various activities have been and will continue to be held to mark the occasion, involving the university’s academic community, the wider UMPWR family, and the public.
As UMPWR reaches its 62nd year, the anniversary serves as more than simply a celebration of the university’s founding. It is also an opportunity to strengthen a shared sense of belonging, build togetherness, and renew the spirit of growing and moving forward together.
