Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – As part of its 62nd Anniversary (Milad) celebration, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) is opening a global platform for university students to share their ideas and innovations through UMPWR INNOVATE 2026, an international innovation competition open to students from Indonesia and around the world.
Carrying the theme “Innovating Today for a Better Tomorrow,” the competition invites students to bring their creative ideas to an international stage. More than just a competition, UMPWR INNOVATE 2026 is designed to encourage students to develop innovative ideas that are useful, relevant, and capable of offering solutions to challenges faced in the future.
UMPWR INNOVATE 2026 features two competition categories: Tech Innovation and Creative Innovation.
The Tech Innovation category is open to technology-driven ideas, including electronics, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), automation, smart devices, digital technology, and other technology-based solutions.
Meanwhile, Creative Innovation focuses on creative and non-technological ideas. Participants can submit innovations in areas such as products, education, social innovation, services, creative solutions, sustainability, and other forms of non-technological innovation.
One of the highlights of the competition is its fully online and asynchronous format, allowing students from different countries to participate without having to travel to Purworejo. Registration is also free and open to university students worldwide.
To ensure a fair and international judging process, UMPWR INNOVATE 2026 brings together international judges from Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Participants will have the opportunity to receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards, along with several special awards. The competition also offers a Best Gold Award worth IDR 750,000, along with a certificate.
Registration for UMPWR INNOVATE 2026 will be open from September 14 to October 31, 2026, with the submission deadline set for November 8, 2026. The preliminary judging will take place from November 9–21, followed by the announcement of finalists on November 25, 2026.
Finalists will submit their final entries from November 26 to December 12, 2026, before the final judging takes place from December 13–20. The winners will be announced on December 23, 2026, while certificates will be distributed on December 28, 2026.
Through UMPWR INNOVATE 2026, UMPWR aims to bring together young innovators from different countries and create opportunities for their ideas to connect, compete, and make a wider impact. The competition is also part of UMPWR’s 62nd Anniversary celebration and reflects the university’s commitment to encouraging creativity, innovation, and meaningful contributions from the younger generation.
