Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – The excitement leading up to the 62nd Anniversary of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) continued with a badminton tournament for lecturers and staff on Friday (August 28, 2026), held at Gedung Serbaguna Bina Persahabatan (GSH) Purworejo.
The tournament featured men’s doubles and women’s doubles matches, bringing lecturers and staff together in a lively and friendly competition. Beyond the matches themselves, the event provided an opportunity to strengthen camaraderie and build closer relationships among members of the UMPWR community.
UMPWR Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., welcomed the tournament as part of the university’s 62nd Anniversary celebration. He said the anniversary was not only a moment to commemorate UMPWR’s journey, but also an opportunity for the university community to come together and strengthen solidarity.
“An anniversary is not simply about celebrating another year in the university’s journey. It is also about maintaining the sense of togetherness that we have as one UMPWR family. Through activities like this badminton tournament, we can take a break from our daily routines, stay active, and strengthen our relationships with one another,” Teguh said.
He also expressed his hope that the spirit of togetherness built through the anniversary activities would continue in the daily work of lecturers and staff, particularly in carrying out their responsibilities and providing the best service for students and the continued development of UMPWR.
The matches were lively and competitive. Cheers and support from colleagues added to the atmosphere, while the players competed enthusiastically on the court while maintaining a friendly and sportsmanlike spirit.
