Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) continues to strengthen its commitment to improving academic quality. This time, two study programs under the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP)—the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program and the Master’s Program in English Education—are undergoing a Field Assessment for Accreditation Conversion by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Education (LAMDIK).
The assessment is being conducted online on Wednesday–Thursday, August 26–27, 2026. This activity is an important part of the efforts of both study programs to improve their accreditation status from “Very Good” to “Excellent.”
For the Master’s Program in English Education, the assessment is conducted by Prof. Dr. Alek, S.S., M.Pd. and Dr. Hendra Tedjasuksmana, M.Hum. Meanwhile, the assessment for the PGSD Study Program is conducted by Neni Mariana, S.Pd., M.Sc., Ph.D. and Dr. Isrok’atun, M.Pd.
For UMPWR, this accreditation conversion assessment is not merely a process of pursuing a higher accreditation status. More than that, it provides an opportunity for the study programs to reflect on their achievements while receiving valuable input from the assessors for future development.
UMPWR Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., emphasized that the target of achieving “Excellent” accreditation must be accompanied by a commitment to maintaining and continuously improving quality.
“Excellent accreditation is not simply about obtaining a title. More importantly, the process of achieving it should encourage study programs to continuously improve governance, learning, research, community service, and student services. We hope this assessment will produce the best possible results while also providing meaningful input for the development of the PGSD and Master’s in English Education programs.”
Meanwhile, Dean of FKIP UMPWR, Dr. Riawan Yudi Purwoko, M.Pd., stated that the assessment represents an important moment for FKIP to demonstrate the quality improvements achieved by the two study programs.
“We want this assessment to be an opportunity to demonstrate what has been accomplished by the PGSD and Master’s in English Education programs, while remaining open to evaluation and feedback from the assessors. The target is certainly Excellent accreditation, but the process of achieving it must also have a real impact on improving the quality of the study programs.”
From the PGSD Study Program, Head of the Study Program Rintis Rizkia Pangestika, M.Pd., said that preparations for the assessment had been carried out collaboratively, involving various stakeholders related to the implementation of the study program.
“We have prepared for this assessment as thoroughly as possible. What we are presenting is not merely documentation, but also the various achievements and processes that have been carried out together by lecturers, education staff, students, alumni, and partners. We hope the entire process will demonstrate the progress of PGSD and pave the way toward Excellent accreditation.”
A similar view was expressed by Head of the Master’s Program in English Education, Dr. Semi Sukarni, M.Pd. According to her, the assessment provides an opportunity for the study program to gain perspectives from the assessors while strengthening its development strategies.
“Of course, we hope that the final result will bring the Master’s Program in English Education to the Excellent accreditation level. However, for us, the feedback from the assessors is equally important. Any notes and recommendations provided will serve as valuable input for us to continue improving and developing the study program.”
For UMPWR, accreditation improvement is part of its long-term journey toward building a strong culture of quality. The university hopes that the efforts of the PGSD and Master’s in English Education programs to achieve Excellent Accreditation will not merely result in a higher accreditation status, but will also further strengthen the quality of education, academic services, and the contributions of both study programs to society.
