Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – Agung Setiawan, M.T., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR), has officially earned his doctoral degree after successfully passing the Doctoral Examination in the Civil Engineering Doctoral Program, Faculty of Engineering and Innovative Design, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Yogyakarta, on Thursday (August 6, 2026).

For his dissertation, Agung presented a study entitled "Pervious Concrete Mix Design Based on Planned Porosity for Surface Runoff Reduction." Conducted as part of the Civil Engineering Doctoral Program, the research proposes an environmentally sustainable approach to construction materials by utilizing pervious concrete with carefully designed porosity to help reduce surface water runoff.

This achievement marks another significant academic milestone for UMPWR, increasing the number of faculty members holding doctoral degrees. The addition of highly qualified academic staff is expected to further strengthen the university's excellence in education, research, and community engagement, reflecting UMPWR's ongoing commitment to continuous institutional development.

UMPWR Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., congratulated Dr. Agung on this remarkable accomplishment, describing it as both a personal achievement and a source of pride for the university.

"On behalf of the leadership of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Agung Setiawan, M.T. on earning his doctoral degree. This is an achievement we are truly grateful for, as it further strengthens UMPWR's academic capacity. We hope that the knowledge and research outcomes he has produced will make meaningful contributions to the development of the Faculty of Engineering, the advancement of the university, and society at large, particularly in the fields of civil engineering and sustainable infrastructure," said the Rector.

Meanwhile, Dr. Agung Setiawan, M.T. expressed his gratitude after completing the long journey toward his doctoral degree.

"Alhamdulillah, all praise is due to Allah SWT for His blessings and guidance that enabled me to complete this doctoral journey. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my family, supervisors, the academic community of UII, and the leadership and extended family of UMPWR for their prayers, support, and trust throughout my studies. I hope this research will not only remain an academic work but also serve as a valuable reference and contribute to the advancement of more sustainable construction technologies. I also look forward to continuing my contributions to enhancing education, research, and community service at UMPWR."

With the addition of another faculty member holding a doctoral degree, UMPWR continues to strengthen the quality of its human resources as a foundation for enhancing the implementation of the university's Tri Dharma—education, research, and community service. This achievement also reflects the university's commitment to providing excellent and innovative higher education capable of addressing both regional and national development challenges.
