Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) has once again achieved a significant milestone in research excellence. Dr. Erni Puji Astuti, M.Pd., a lecturer in the Mathematics Education Study Program, has been awarded funding under the Research and Innovation for Indonesia Maju (RIIM) Competition Wave 11, organized by Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
The achievement was officially announced through the Decree of the Deputy for Research and Innovation Facilitation of BRIN No. 106/II.7/HK/2026 concerning the Recipients of the Research and Innovation for Indonesia Maju (RIIM) Competition Wave 11, issued on June 22, 2026.
The RIIM Competition is one of BRIN's flagship research funding schemes designed to broaden access to research grants for researchers and research institutions across Indonesia through the utilization of the National Research Endowment Fund. The program is highly competitive, attracting proposals from universities, research institutions, and other organizations nationwide.
In this funding cycle, 821 research proposals were selected for support. Among them was Dr. Erni Puji Astuti's research project entitled, "Development of an Artificial Intelligence-Based Adaptive Platform for Deep Learning Mathematics Education in Junior High Schools: Integrating Research and Community Engagement through Educational Communities."
This accomplishment also places UMPWR among only 19 Muhammadiyah and 'Aisyiyah Universities (PTMA) in Indonesia whose lecturers successfully secured RIIM funding in this competition. The achievement reflects the university's growing contribution to high-quality, impactful, and innovative research at the national level.
UMPWR Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the achievement, emphasizing that it demonstrates the university's strong commitment to advancing research and innovation.

This achievement is the result of dedication, perseverance, and a strong commitment to producing high-quality research. We hope this project will not only contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge but also generate innovative solutions that benefit the education sector, particularly in the development of artificial intelligence-based mathematics learning. We also hope this success will inspire more UMPWR lecturers to actively pursue competitive research opportunities at both the national and international levels," said the Rector.
