Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) once again demonstrated its commitment to student achievement by participating in the 2026 Central Java Student Arts Week (PEKSIMIDA). In the monologue competition, held at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed), Purwokerto, from July 13–15, 2026, the UMPWR contingent earned a silver medal for its outstanding performance.

PEKSIMIDA serves as a platform for university students to develop and showcase their artistic talents while also functioning as a regional selection event to identify Central Java's representatives for the 2026 National Student Arts Week (PEKSIMINAS). This year's monologue competition featured 34 participants from public and private universities across Central Java, each presenting their finest theatrical performances.

Representing UMPWR, the team performed Balada Sumarah, a monologue written by Tentrem Lestari. The lead role was portrayed by Intan Kasdiyani Safitri, a second-semester student from the Economics Education Study Program, who brought the story to life through compelling character interpretation, expressive acting, and confident stage presence.

The performance was the result of strong teamwork. Intan was supported by Nur Baeti (Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program) as the acting crew, Tegar Aldia Syah (Indonesian Language and Literature Education) as the official and lighting operator, Solichin Cahyo Sujiwo (Agribusiness Study Program) as the music crew, Said Agil Al Munawar (Management Study Program) as the lighting crew, with Khoirul Anam serving as the director.

Imam Fuzi, Project Officer for the 2026 Central Java PEKSIMIDA Monologue Competition, emphasized that the event provides an important platform for students to develop their theatrical skills while fostering sportsmanship.

"PEKSIMIDA is a highly anticipated stage for students to compete in the performing arts, particularly theater. We hope every contingent delivers their best performance with sportsmanship and accepts the results gracefully," he said.

For Intan, participating in PEKSIMIDA was a rewarding experience that extended beyond the competition itself. Although she did not advance to PEKSIMINAS 2026, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent UMPWR and for the valuable lessons gained throughout the journey.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to represent UMPWR at the 2026 Central Java PEKSIMIDA. Although I was not able to qualify for PEKSIMINAS, this experience has been incredibly meaningful. Meeting outstanding participants from various universities, going through months of preparation, and performing on a competitive stage have given me invaluable lessons. I hope this experience will motivate me to continue learning, growing, and delivering even better performances in the future," Intan said.

UMPWR's participation in the 2026 Central Java PEKSIMIDA reflects the University's commitment to supporting student development not only in academics but also in the arts and culture. Competing at the regional level is expected to inspire more students to cultivate their talents, pursue excellence, and continue bringing pride to UMPWR through various achievements.
