Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to higher education by awarding the 2026 Lazismu Scholarships. A total of 18 students received full tuition fee waivers through the eighth semester during a scholarship award ceremony held at the University's Main Meeting Room on Thursday (July 9, 2026).
The scholarship program, funded by the Lazismu UMPWR Service Office, is a tangible expression of the University's commitment to helping students complete their studies without financial burdens while fostering a generation of academically accomplished, morally grounded, and socially responsible graduates.
The recipients consist of three first-semester students, one third-semester student, ten fifth-semester students, and four seventh-semester students. Each recipient will receive a full tuition fee waiver until the completion of their eighth semester.
Head of the Lazismu UMPWR Service Office, Ari Fajar Isbakhi, M.Pd.I., emphasized that the scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It is a trust that must be honored through academic excellence, responsibility, and dedication to learning.
He encouraged the recipients to make the most of this opportunity and strive to complete their studies on schedule. He also expressed his hope that some students would be able to graduate even earlier, within seven semesters.

Meanwhile, UMPWR Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., congratulated all recipients of the 2026 Lazismu Scholarship. In his remarks, he encouraged students to cultivate strong character as the foundation for long-term success.
"Success is not determined by intelligence alone. It is also built upon honesty and the willingness to do good without constantly calculating personal gain. Uphold these values throughout your academic journey and carry them with you when you serve society," the Rector said.
The Rector further encouraged the scholarship recipients to express their gratitude by achieving academic excellence and making meaningful contributions to the University's continued development. According to him, the support they have received should inspire them to grow, excel, and create a positive impact within the campus community.
He also advised students to maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) above 3.00 while actively participating in student organizations and extracurricular activities, including the Student Creativity Program (PKM). Such experiences beyond the classroom, he noted, are essential in developing graduates who are adaptable, innovative, competitive, and capable of making meaningful contributions to society.
The 2026 Lazismu Scholarship Program reflects the shared commitment of UMPWR and the Lazismu UMPWR Service Office to promoting more inclusive and equitable access to higher education. Through this initiative, the University hopes that more students will be able to complete their studies successfully, achieve academic excellence, and become graduates who contribute positively to society, the nation, and the Muhammadiyah movement.
