Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) – The Mathematics Education Study Program (Bachelor’s Degree), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), held a Mathematics Learning Media Exhibition on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, at the Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium. The event served as a platform for students to present a variety of creative instructional media designed to make mathematics more engaging, easier to understand, and closely connected to everyday life.
This exhibition is part of the final assignment for the course Mathematics Learning Media, which is taught by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., who also serves as the Rector of UMPWR. A total of 11 student groups participated in the event, showcasing innovative works under the theme “Mathematics, Creativity, and Innovation Exhibition.”
The learning media presented demonstrated how mathematical concepts can be packaged in a more interactive and enjoyable way. In addition to conventional teaching aids and educational games, students also showcased digital learning media that utilize technology to support the learning process. The presence of digital media highlights the importance for future educators to keep up with current developments by integrating technology into education.
Through digital media such as interactive presentations, learning animations, and simple technology-based applications, students sought to create a more adaptive learning experience aligned with today’s digitally oriented generation. This approach is expected to make mathematics learning less rigid and more communicative, engaging, and easier to understand.
In addition to serving as an academic assessment by the course lecturer, the exhibition also attracted strong interest from visitors, including students from various schools in Purworejo who came to observe the students’ works firsthand. Their presence added vibrancy to the event while also creating a space for inspiration-sharing between prospective teachers and school students.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., mathematics learning should not always be associated with rigid numbers and formulas. He emphasized that teachers’ creativity plays a crucial role in how well students can understand the material, including through the use of digital technology.
“Mathematics is often perceived as a difficult and boring subject. However, when taught using creative approaches supported by innovative learning media—both conventional and digital—mathematics can become enjoyable. In today’s era, teachers must also be digitally literate so they can deliver learning that is relevant to current generations,” he stated.
He further added that the ability to innovate in designing learning media, especially digital-based tools, is an essential competency for future teachers in the era of educational transformation.
This exhibition stands as evidence that students of the Mathematics Education FKIP UMPWR are not only equipped with theoretical knowledge but are also encouraged to continuously create and innovate in developing learning approaches relevant to today’s evolving world. Through activities like this, UMPWR remains committed to producing adaptive, creative educators who are ready to face the challenges of future education. (akb/KP).
