To better prepare students and prospective job seekers for the professional recruitment process, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo, in collaboration with Malang State University and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia, is hosting an international online webinar titled “STAR Approach & SWOT Analysis for Job Interviews.”
This event was held on Friday, June 19, 2026, via an online platform and featured two speakers who are experts in their fields: Prof. Dr. Suharyadi from the Faculty of Letters at Malang State University, Indonesia, and Meriam Esterina, M.Psi., a psychologist, lecturer, and psychologist at Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo, Indonesia. Both shared insights and practical strategies for navigating the job interview process through the application of the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) and SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats).
The STAR method is known as one of the most effective techniques for helping job applicants answer interview questions systematically and based on real-life experiences. Meanwhile, SWOT analysis helps participants identify their potential, understand areas for development, and formulate a more focused career strategy.
Meriam Esterina said that in addition to providing insight into effective interview techniques, this webinar also served as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences across countries, which can enrich participants’ perspectives on career development and prepare them to enter the professional world.
Through this activity, he hopes that participants will be able to better recognize their own potential, develop effective communication strategies for job interviews, and improve their readiness to face various challenges in the modern workplace.
“Preparing yourself with the right strategies is the first step toward career success. Through the STAR Approach and SWOT Analysis, participants are expected to be able to present themselves with greater confidence and professionalism in every job interview,” she said.
The Vice Rector for Cooperation and AIK at UMPWR, Dr. Tusino, M.Pd.B.I., welcomed this collaborative event as a tangible example of synergy among universities in supporting the enhancement of students’ competencies at the global level.
