Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR), through the BPJS Kesehatan Goes to Campus program, provided important preparation for sixth-semester KIP scholarship students who will participate in the 2026 Thematic KKN (Community Service Program). The event was held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Kasman Singodimedjo Auditorium, UMPWR, and was enthusiastically attended by hundreds of students.
The program featured representatives from BPJS Kesehatan Purworejo Branch and BPJS Kesehatan Kebumen Branch. A total of 175 students attended the first session, while 150 students joined the second session, all of whom will soon be deployed to their respective 2026 Thematic KKN locations.
This activity was part of UMPWR’s effort to ensure that students are not only academically and socially prepared to serve the community, but also equipped with a solid understanding of health protection. During KKN, students will be placed in various regions with diverse field conditions, where the risk of illness or minor accidents remains possible.
Through this program, students were given a deeper understanding that membership in BPJS Kesehatan serves as an important form of protection in health emergencies. With health insurance coverage, students are expected to carry out their community service programs with greater peace of mind, without worrying about medical expenses.

Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) at UMPWR, Dr. Heru Kurniawan, M.Pd, emphasized in his remarks that health is an essential aspect that should not be overlooked during KKN implementation.
“KKN is not merely about carrying out work programs in the community, but also about how students adapt to a new environment that certainly comes with its own challenges. Therefore, health protection is an important component to ensure students can carry out their service safely, comfortably, and optimally,” he stated.
In addition to discussing the benefits of health protection, the event also encouraged students to understand the core value promoted by BPJS Kesehatan, namely mutual cooperation (gotong royong). Students were invited to realize that the contributions they pay are not solely for personal benefit, but also serve as collective support to help other participants who need healthcare services.
The keynote speaker, Salohuddin Nurdwiantoro, Head of Service Quality and Membership Affairs at BPJS Kesehatan Kebumen Branch, highlighted the importance of students’ awareness of health insurance before entering the field.
“Through this BPJS Goes to Campus program, we aim to ensure that all 2026 Thematic KKN students have guaranteed health protection, so that if they face health risks during the program, they can focus on recovery without being burdened by medical costs,” he explained.
The event was highly interactive, with students actively asking questions about membership procedures, service mechanisms, and the benefits they could access when requiring healthcare services at medical facilities.
Through the BPJS Kesehatan Goes to Campus program, UMPWR once again demonstrated its commitment to preparing students comprehensively before they engage with the community. Beyond academic and service competence, students are also equipped with awareness of the importance of health protection as part of their readiness to face real-world challenges.
