Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo – once again demonstrated its commitment to instilling Islamic values, social awareness, and strengthening Islamic outreach through the implementation of sacrificial animal slaughter during Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. This year, UMPWR slaughtered four sacrificial cows contributed by lecturers, educational staff, and students.

Of the four cows, two were donated by UMPWR lecturers and educational staff, while the other two were contributed by students as part of qurban practice, Islamic outreach, the implementation of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) values, as well as a learning process in sincerity and social compassion within the university environment.

The slaughtering of the sacrificial animals was carried out on the second day of Eid al-Adha, namely 11 Dzulhijjah 1447 H, which coincided with May 28, 2026.

Chairman of the UMPWR Qurban Committee, H. Nasrudin, M.S.I., explained that the implementation on the second day was intended to allow the committee members to first engage and participate in Eid al-Adha activities within their respective communities on the first day.

Furthermore, the qurban meat will be distributed to communities surrounding the campus, UMPWR dormitories and Islamic boarding schools, as well as several institutions, prayer rooms (mushola), and orphanages that had previously submitted requests for qurban meat assistance.

This activity reflects UMPWR’s commitment as an Islamic university that not only excels academically, but also actively delivers meaningful benefits to society through various social and religious programs.
