Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo through the Jam’iyyatul Qurro’ Wal Huffazh (JQH) Al Bayan Student Activity Unit successfully held its first Tahfidz Graduation themed “Fostering a Generation of Qur’an Memorizers at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo” on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Seminar Room of East Campus UMPWR.
The event became a meaningful moment as well as a form of appreciation for students who successfully completed the process of memorizing the Qur’an amidst their academic responsibilities and campus activities. A total of 13 participants joined the graduation, achieving various levels of memorization ranging from 2 juz, 3 juz, and more.
Chairperson of the committee, Syacril Oktadi, stated in his remarks that the theme reflected both hope and a shared commitment to encouraging students at UMPWR to memorize the Qur’an. He explained that all participants had previously taken part in a sima’an session on May 16–17, 2026, as a form of muroja’ah (revision) and evaluation before the graduation ceremony.
“The number of participants proves that UMPWR students have a strong enthusiasm for memorizing the Qur’an. This Tahfidz Graduation is a form of appreciation for their dedication and is expected to motivate them to continue instilling Qur’anic values in both personal and social life,” he said.
Meanwhile, JQH Al Bayan Chairperson Ilfa Nenis Meilani explained that the event marked an important step forward in promoting Qur’anic values on campus. While previous activities only included sima’an, this year JQH Al Bayan successfully organized its first Tahfidz Graduation ceremony.
“The memorization achievements of the participants vary, but all of them deserve appreciation. We hope the graduates will remain consistent in memorizing the Qur’an. May this event bring blessings and strengthen the spread of Qur’anic values at UMPWR,” she stated.

JQH Al Bayan Advisor, Iyus Herdiana Saputra, M.S.I., also expressed gratitude for the successful implementation of the first Tahfidz Graduation. According to him, students who remain committed to memorizing the Qur’an despite their busy academic schedules are truly remarkable individuals worthy of recognition.
“This is something extraordinary. Amid lectures and various activities, these students continue to dedicate their time to memorizing the Qur’an. Congratulations to all graduates and committee members who made this event successful,” he remarked.
In his speech, the Rector of UMPWR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teguh Wibowo, M.Pd., expressed appreciation for JQH Al Bayan as a platform for fostering Islamic character among students. He hoped that the hafidz and hafidzah would become role models and inspire other students toward positive values and better conduct.
“Congratulations to all Tahfidz graduates. The Qur’an should not only be read and memorized, but also understood and practiced in daily life,” the Rector emphasized.
In addition to the graduation ceremony, the event also featured a motivational session delivered by the Director of Pondok Pesantren Darul Arqom Muhammadiyah Purworejo, Muhammad Nurrosyid Huda Setiawan, S.Th.I., MIRKH., C.PS., C.EQL., who highlighted the importance of preserving Qur’anic memorization and building a Qur’anic generation in the modern era.
Through this event, JQH Al Bayan UMPWR hopes to further encourage the spirit of Qur’an memorization among students and strengthen Islamic academic culture within the university environment.
